Simon Howell

Property solicitor Simon Howell was admitted as a solicitor in 1971, having been articled at Witham Weld in London SW1. In 1972 he joined Arnold Fooks Chadwick, London W1. In 1976 he moved to Ellis Wood Bickersteth & Hazel in the City of London, becoming an equity partner in 1982, and eventually Senior Partner. The firm subsequently became known as Ellis Wood, and moved to Hatton Garden EC1, merging with this firm of Cumberland Ellis in September 2003. He is a Partner in the Property Group, working in the Property Law Department and leads our Charity Law Team.
Simon has over the years dealt with many different property and educational aspects of Roman Catholic charities, having been listed in Chambers Guide and UK Legal Experts as a leading individual. For the last 14 years he has also been a director of a property investment company.
For several years Simon was a Ward Clerk, and also Clerk to a Ward Charity, in the City of London, and is a Freeman of the City. For 10 years he was Secretary, and then a committee member of the Conference of Solicitors acting for Catholic Charities. He is a member of the Charity Law Association.
When not at work Simon enjoys the company of his family, country walks, old churches, second-hand bookshops, and helping his children with their Latin homework.
