Mark Shulman

Partner, Commercial

Employment solicitor Mark Shulman read law and originally trained as a barrister before being called to the Bar in 1981. After a brief period of practice at the Bar, Mark spent a period as a legal journalist writing on employment law before working as a local government lawyer, undertaking both civil litigation and criminal work. After leaving the public sector, Mark has had substantial experience as an employment lawyer in private practice.

Mark is head of the Employment Law Department, within our Commercial Group. He has a wealth of experience acting for both public sector and not-for-profit clients, as well as for a variety of commercial clients in a broad range of employment law matters. He has a particular interest in discrimination law and issues relating to transfer of undertakings. In addition to advisory work, Mark is an experienced advocate and represents clients both in Employment Tribunals and in the Employment Appeal Tribunal. Mark is also a regular speaker at employment law seminars and workshops.

As an accredited Employment and Workplace Mediator and a member of the Globis Mediation Group Panel, Mark can assist with the resolution of your dispute. His work as a practising employment lawyer provides him with a first-hand understanding of relationship issues that can arise in the workplace and how to resolve them.

Outside work, Mark's leisure interests include travel, playing jazz piano and motorcycling.
