James Lamont

Partner, Commercial

James graduated in history at Bristol University and joined the Company Commercial Department on qualification as a solicitor in May 2000. He was promoted to Associate in May 2004 and Partner in May 2006.

James specialises in the structuring of new ventures and the sale and acquisition, funding and restructuring of private limited companies, partnerships and other businesses. His client base is varied, with clients ranging from UK growth companies to family businesses, management buyout teams and international corporations. As an integral part of this James has extensive knowledge and experience in the fields of commercial law and company law and is heavily involved in advising various charitable and sporting not for profit organisations on all manner of commercial issues. In addition, as part of his practice, James provides UK legal advice to certain affiliated US law firms and US corporate clients and is a member of the Society of English and American Lawyers.

When not in the office James and his wife can be found trekking or sailing either here or in Europe or hopping on a plane to somewhere further afield, while more everyday hobbies include football, tennis, cricket and the occasional historical novel or game of chess.
